Galentine's Day

If you’ve ever met me, then you know I enjoy a good brunch. I love sleeping in and rolling out of bed, then getting dressed up to meet friends. I don’t know if everyone else does it this way, but among my sisters, we believe “Galentine’s Day” is a brunch-focused holiday. I wouldn’t admit this to my husband (he needs to always be on his toes), but I think I prefer Galentines Day to Valentine’s Day. There are just too few holidays where I get to be with the girls for a while. Plus, unlike my husband, my sisters never remind me that a mimosa is “barely a cocktail” and “never worth the money.”

Galentine’s day is the perfect time to get together with all your gals. We bitch about work, other gals who couldn’t make it to brunch, and catch up on all the latest gossip. Unfortunately, I’m not in the same city as most of my gals, so sometimes, I like send a card in the mail or gift a favorite kitchen utensil. This year, I decided to send ten of my lady friends a Galentine’s day gift, just to help them “treat yo self.”

In my gifts, I included a gorgeous Kendra Scott necklace, an Illuminidol candle, items to pamper yourself, sweets, colorful headbands and twillys and of course some homemade goods! I also made a donation in the name of each of the ladies to go towards to amazing causes by GlobalGiving: Australian wildfire relief funds and supporting young women to attend STEM program in Nigeria.

Lastly, I included a note to each of my ladies and told them that I love and cherish them. I find it so important to tell others you love them, tell them why and tell them often. Ever since my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer (she’s cancer free now!), I decided to celebrate everything good in my life whenever I could. Have your family over on Saturday to celebrate the week ending, then make a fancy dinner for your partner to show them you love them, celebrate Galentine’s day to shower your ladies in love. Celebrate big and love hard!
