Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas for a Home Chef

I consider myself a really good gift giver. I am basically constantly thinking about gift ideas for birthdays or random surprises. My “love language” is gifts/ little acts of kindness. That doesn’t necessarily mean I just have to spend money or want expensive things (DON’T RELAY THIS INFORMATION TO MY HUSBAND), but doing a little something thoughtful for someone else means a lot to me. Sometimes my husband will bring home a pomegranate from the grocery store, which is one of our favorite movie snacks, or he will bring me a cup of coffee in bed on the weekends. Those little things mean so much to me. On the other hand, my husband doesn’t care about gifts and would rather I didn’t spend the money. Sucks for him!!

When it comes time to buy him gifts, I am amped and ready to go! I LOVE to spoil Josh. Last year for our five year anniversary, I give him themed gifts for the 5 days up until our anniversary with a letter. One day it was “Olive you!” with tons of fancy olives and snacks. Another was “I am sweet for you!” with all of his favorite candies and treats. There are a couple of themes that I shouldn’t mention here involving salami sticks… but they got a great laugh!

We both have the same big interests: traveling, cooking, cocktails. We are also both obsessed with recommendations from The Wirecutter and Serious Eats. You’ll see most of my kitchen tools or appliances were recommended from one of those places. Since Valentine’s Day usually involves gift giving, I thought I’d round up some of my favorites! These are great gifts for all the chefs in your life!

  1. Chef’s Satchel Apron. These are so functional and practical that you can tell they were made by chefs for chefs. Beyond that, they’re super stylish. You can buy a simple one with canvas straps or spring for one of their beautiful leather strapped options. The straps unbutton around the neck which means I don’t have to mess up my hair every time I put on my apron. Plus, use coupon code “MOOREFOOD” for 25% off your purchase of $49.99 or more. You will LOVE their products.

  2. This one is on my personal wish list - Chef’s Satchel Knife Roll. You may not think you need this, but if you ever travel to cook, you need a safe way to transport your babies (knives). I have begun bringing my knives with me places, especially places where I know there won’t be a ton of options. These are beautiful and you can have them embroidered with your name! You can use coupon code “MOOREFOOD” for 25% off your purchase of $49.99 or more.

  3. Le Creuset wooden spoon. I had been wanting to order this spoon for months until my brother in law, Luke, gave it to me as part of my Christmas present. Everyone was a little confused to see why a $25 wooden spoon was such a big deal. It can serve as a spoon but also has a pointed end so that you can use it easily for crushing and scraping. Once you try it, you’ll see why it is highly recommended!

  4. Mark and Graham monogrammed napkins. These are so cute, pretty affordable and they really up your hosting and entertaining game. I have several sets and can’t seem to get enough! I think these are also a really good wedding/ engagement gift idea.

  5. Pyrex Smart Essentials mixing bowls and lids. These are so practical and they nest into one little set. The lids fit perfectly and they do exactly what I need them to do. These are a must for every kitchen.

  6. Thermoworks Thermapen. I know this seems expensive but there’s a reason. These guys are accurate, super quick and always on point. I am so glad we finally decided to order one.

Happy Valentine’s Day!
