Alaska

Let me start with this: I love cocktails with yellow chartreuse. It’s sweetish but not where you feel like you’re drinking a sugary drink. I also love gin (as you’ve probably already picked up!) The Alaska is something I love to make at home and order in cocktail bars like Anvil in Houston. Anvil is my favorite bar! Josh and I have always really loved cocktails and started getting serious about making them in college, but our real love didn’t start until we moved to Houston. During our first Anvil visit, we were completely hooked. The staff is required to learn all cocktails from their “100 list” and know them by memory before they are inducted as a barkeep. The service is impeccable, the drinks are incredible and we have made many friends during our time there.

During our first visit at Anvil, we were mesmerized. They were lighting citrus peels on fire, using glassware we had never seen and had a massive list of drink options. Over time we have tried most of the cocktails. I was looking at the menu last night and actually had trouble finding cocktails that we hadn’t tried before. Anyways, the first time I had an “Alaska” was at Anvil. I told the barkeep that I loved gin, martinis and anything citrus. He served me up the Alaska and I haven’t looked back since. Give it a try!
