Chocolate Chip Cookies
A good chocolate chip cookie is one of the best treats in the world. My favorite cookies are crispy on the outside, chewy in the middle and served with a small glass of cold milk. One of my favorite tips for making chocolate chip cookies is to use a high quality chocolate chip and to finish the cookie with flaky salt. The contrast of the chocolate and salt is EVERYTHING. I hope you give this recipe a try!
Ingredients:
2 sticks of unsalted butter (softened)
1 cup white sugar
1 cup light brown sugar
1 tablespoon vanilla extract
2 teaspoons kosher salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
2 3/4 cups A.P. flour
2 1/2 cups chocolate chips
1 tablespoon flaky sea salt (I prefer Maldon)
Directions:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. In the bowl of a stand mixer, combine the sugars, butter, vanilla, baking soda, salt, and baking powder. Let combine for about 4 minutes until it becomes soft and whipped.
Next, add some flour a little at a time along with the egg until fully combined.
Lastly, add in the chocolate chips and stir to combine.
Line a baking sheet with a silpat or a piece of parchment paper with oil. Drop 1-2 inch balls of dough onto the baking sheet 2 inches apart. Top the cookies with flaky salt.
Bake for 13-14 minutes and then allow to rest on the baking sheet for 2-3 minutes before letting them fully cool down on a cooling rack.
